Loire Valley Calypsos
Mon Gamin
The third album by The Loire Valley Calypsos, 'Mon Gamin,' marks a shift from calypso and Caribbean influences to French songs, though tropical elements still linger. The album evokes themes of travel, nostalgia, and family, with a melancholic tone that contrasts with the sunny musical influences. The band collaborated with two singers, Oriane Lacaille for a French-Reunionese duet and Bia Lética for an ode to Salvador de Bahia. Drawing from psychedelia, Caribbean rhythms, disco, and French chanson, the album mixes genres to express a sense of longing and disillusionment. The group, now fully embracing the French language, continues to master their craft, blending joy and dance in their unique style.
