Hair & Treasure
Disc Rot
Experimental duo Hair & Treasure - Gonçalo F. Cardoso and Alex Jones, with Phil Laney (aka Kenny Hosepipe) joining in - return with 'Disc Rot,' an eerie and fragmented dive into decayed synthscapes, field recordings, and subliminal pulses. Moving from Sucata Tapes to Discrepant wax, the album distills their signature chaotic energy into shorter, sharper transmissions. Compared to past releases like 'Two Fucking Tapes' or 'Forked Piss Blues,' 'Disc Rot' trades sprawling compositions for precise yet unhinged sonic vignettes. From the feverish opener 'Warm Night' to the industrial dread of 'Byzantine Turd Skirt' and the Midwest noise chaos of 'Busy Hubby's Flight To Gstaad,' the album warps reality into a hallucinatory soundscape. Nods to Black Dice and Wolf Eyes surface, but ultimately, 'Disc Rot' is pure Hair & Treasure - abstract, unsettling, and unmistakably their own.
